Hello, my name is Lorena and my goal is to incite awareness to all those willing to listen(or read). It has recently come to my knowledge how clogged full of filth our society is when it come to products being consumed. This enlightenment has been an overwhelmingly tiresome journey that seemingly has no end. It has left me feeling like I need my own island far away from all of society and capitalism. Unfortunately this is not an option, and since it is a journey I will undergo regardless, I feel the need to share with as many people as possible in an effort to help others. Hoping to ease the transition for some and open the eyes of others, I will share my discoveries here.
My transformation started when my 5 month-old son was referred to an allergist or his eczema. My son had been plagued with this tedious skin condition since he was 3 weeks of age. Upon completion of said visit, my son and I were left with an extensive list of food allergies and a decision to make. My son was exclusively-breastfed at the time and many of the allergens on his list I consumed daily. For parents of children with similar issues this is probably not a shocker, however for me it was exactly that. The allergist recommended I cycle out the foods to see how my son did and use a topical steroid on his rough areas. Being the upfront person that I am, I told the allergist that I would not be giving my son any steroids and it made more sense to discountinue consumption of all allergens at once. My sons skin was bad he had dark-scarring and cracked skin that would bleed and ooze on his arms. At night he had a hard time sleeping without scratching and bath time was just as bad. I also had to take showers with him to minimize his time in water.
I went to the store to stock up for my new diet and began reading every label. I soon came to the realization that I would not have much variety in my diet and I didn't know what many of these long hard to pronounce words were. The lack of variety was something I could suffer through for my child, but lack of knowledge on the unknown ingredients was something I could fix. I started reading ingredients checking http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ an informative site that exposes the ingredients in many cosmetics. Coincidentally many ingredients used in food-like products are also in cosmetics. I had no idea at that time how my life was about to change or how blind I had been to everything from food and cosmetics to cleaning products and microwaves.
Fast forward to now nothing that is not organic, non-gmo, or pesticide-free enters my home or body.
Some fight against cancer, terrorism, autism well I fight for health. Health is a priceless commodity and I intend to maintain my families as long as I can possibly can. I intend to live to be over 100 yrs old and still as functional as I am today. Long ago this would not have been such a unobtainable goal, yet now-a-days sadly it seems out of reach. I have come to the realization that many of the people who claim to be health professionals could careless about anyones health and are more interested in lining there pockets with money from manufacturers of vaccines, medicines, and insurance companies. They also have been ill-informed on many practices that are out-of-date such as mammograms and vaccines.
I will end this with you can not trust everything your told. Being a critical thinker is necessary today in America with the many figures of authority (doctors, media, etc) are being bought by certain interest groups or controlled by the government. Trust these money hungry capitalists if you want to, but when it comes to my families health I will question, research, and verify before mindlessly following anything or anyone.
