This is an essay about my dream job and how I would be well suited for said job. My credentials in this essay are exaggerated, my passion for this job is, however, very real and so is the need for this job in America.
Untarnish America
Unaware of the extensive amount of dangerous chemicals lurking in common products, consumers compromise the health of the environment and themselves daily. Sure, some are aware of the harsher chemicals, like parabens, or BHT, but what about the citric acid that is found in many juices and other products of the like? Contrary to popular belief, citric acid is not from citrus fruits. It is actually derived from GMO black mold. Or how about the aborted human fetal serum, formaldehyde, and mercury in many vaccines administered today? The primary goal of Secretary of Consumerist Welfare (SCW) is to keep consumers safe, healthy, and well- informed. If selected for the prestigious position as Secretary of Consumerist Welfare, I will do the aforementioned and more.
With degrees in botany, organic chemistry, holistic nutrition, and traditional Chinese medicine, I am qualified and well-versed on many areas pertaining to health and the human body. During my Navy enlistment serving as Command Master Chief, I acquired many skills in research/analysis, leadership/management, problem solving, creativity, organization, and responsibility. After being in charge of three of the Navy's largest bases and one nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in my twenty years of service, I am more than qualified for the job in skillset, desire, and intelligence, and I am ready to begin actively affecting change. Helping people make better health decisions by drastically reducing the amount of hazardous chemicals, while increasing awareness of existing hazards will be one of my main goals. Beginning with food additives, according to the FDA's website, "Companies that want to add new additives to food bear the responsibility of providing FDA with information demonstrating that the additives are safe." There is no indication that the companies must use an unbiased lab to test and demonstrate the safety of said additives. What stops these companies from paying a lab to produce inaccurate data?
If selected as the SCW, I would assure that this changes by demanding that these companies comply with strictly enforced regulations. Companies would mandatorily submit additives to a lab to be rigorously tested, I would oversee the lab to ensure it would also retest all approved chemicals four times a year to maintain continuous safety. Furthermore, all vaccine makers would be made liable for any adverse reactions; doctors would be required to read ingredients lists and possible side effects to patients prior to administering them. For the products already being consumed, I would create a TV channel, newspaper, radio show, Facebook page, and website called Consumerist Welfare (CWF), that would be available across the nation. It would disseminate all information pertaining to chemicals, tests done on chemicals, and potential side effects. Food additives and vaccines would not be alone in the revision of consumer products, as personal care items can be just as perilous.
After seeing first-hand what some of the chemicals in personal care products can do, I understand the need for change. Have you ever read the ingredients list on personal care products and seen an immensely long chemical name and wondered what it is? Many personal care products contain glycerin, sodium lauryl sulphate, propylene glycol, synthetic fragrances, and more. The reactions to these chemicals can range from dry skin to cancer. This is unnecessary, and to avoid these reactions all personal care items would be submitted to rigorous testing as well. While many groups promote creating a cure for cancer, I realize it is to some degree preventable, by eliminating the causes. Most of these chemicals have not been thoroughly tested, and up until now the American people have been treated like lab rats. Placing restrictions on these companies that mass produce products with chemical fillers is a necessary step to ensuring the welfare of American citizens. Moving this country out of the chemical plume of dangerous products will not be easy, and the list of necessary changes is boundless. But, if selected, I am prepared and excited to change the face of consumerism in America from horrendously toxic to safe. There are many issues in America, and by changing the way we produce we can dramatically reduce these problems and leave our country better than we found it. Keeping consumers safe, healthy, and well-informed is the goal of the Security of Consumerist Welfare and if selected this is exactly what I will do.
